Burger Bread Bowl
/Forget the bun. We are taking everything you love about a classic tavern burger, from seasoned beef and melted cheese to crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and a tangy house sauce, and packing it straight into a crusty sourdough bowl. It is warm, it is fresh, and tearing off a piece of bread while scooping up forkfuls of the warm filling is hands down the best way to eat it.
INGREDIENTS HIGHLIGHTS
The Edible Vessel: Sourdough bread loaves, hollowed out to hold the filling, brushed with melted butter, and topped with toasted sesame seeds.
The Savory Base: Ground beef seasoned simply with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder for a classic, rich foundation.
The Melt: Shredded cheese layered directly against the warm beef to create a gooey, melty barrier.
The House Burger Sauce: A custom blend of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise that ties every bite together with creamy, tangy depth.
The Smoky & Rich Extras: Crispy bacon and fresh avocado slices to add texture and luxurious creaminess.
The Fresh Finish: Shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, diced onions, and pickles for that classic burger crunch and bright, fresh contrast.
HOW TO MAKE IT
Brown your beef: Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, crumbling as it goes, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Brown completely, then drain excess grease.
Make the sauce: While the beef browns, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard until smooth.
Prepare the bowl for the bake: Slice the top off your sourdough loaf and hollow out the center, leaving a sturdy shell ready for filling.
Pro Tip - Salt the Tomatoes: Toss your sliced tomatoes with a pinch of salt and let them drain on a paper towel for 10-15 minutes before using. This will draw out excess moisture and enhance the tomato flavor.
LAYER THE FILLING
Pack your hollowed-out sourdough loaf with the cooked ground beef, bacon, fresh avocado, and a generous layer of cheese, creating a rich, warm, and hearty filling inside the bread bowl.
THE FINISHINGS
Drizzle the custom burger sauce right over the top and sprinkle a little extra cheese to finish. Serve and eat right away so you have the burger experience where the meat and cheese are warm and the toppings are cool and crispl.

Ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, seasoning with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Once fully cooked, drain any excess liquid and set aside.
- While the beef is browning, whisk together your ketchup, mustard, mayo, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
- Slice the top third off each sourdough loaf. Carefully hollow out the inside of the loaf, leaving about a 1/2 to 1-inch thickness around the edges and bottom to form a sturdy bowl. (Save the extra bread pieces for croutons or snacking!)
- Layer a quarter of the shredded cheese into the bottom of each bread bowl, top with the ground beef, and then add the remaining cheese over the beef in each bowl. Wrap a strip of aluminum foil snugly around the outer crust of each loaf to prevent the bread from over-browning while baking.
- Place the bowls on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 12 minutes, or until the cheese is thoroughly melted and bubbly.
- Remove the bowls from the oven. To get that authentic burger experience—where the beef and cheese are warm and the toppings stay crisp and cool—immediately layer on your shredded lettuce, followed by the tomato, avocado, onion, pickles, and bacon.
- Drizzle half of your special burger sauce over the top of each bowl, serve immediately, and feast!
