Wall Herb Garden Project Showing Signs of Life

We have some exciting progress on our Wall Herb Garden Project. There are signs of life in Chives, Oregano, Thyme, Sage and particularly Basil! Oh yeah! I'm a little concerned about no signs in Rosemary and Parsley. Might need to re-do those. And Cilantro was planted late, so we have yet to see how that will go. Can't wait to see what the next couple of weeks brings! The green jars appear to not be available. You can find the clear ones here.

Cauli Wrap Via Silpat

If you bake and you're not using a Silpat, go get one immediately! I use these silicone baking mats for lots of baking needs and especially when making cauliflower wraps or pizza crust. The mat gives great heat distribution, especially when set atop a baking/cooling rack. Clean up is a snap and replaces parchment paper in most cases. All the chefs I know at Sur la Table use these and highly recommend them. Check it out.

Sur la Table Vitamix Demo

Here I am at Sur la Table demo'ing the Vitamix. I made a Creamy Broccoli Curry Soup. The Vitamix, seriously, it's an awesome machine. I sauteed some leeks in butter, then added a little vegetable broth and broccoli florets until they softened. Toss that all into the Vitamix with a little cream, a dash of curry and salt, and blend, Baby, blend. The super cool thing about this machine is that it actually heats the soup at the right levels. Very cool.

Wall Herb Garden Project - Part One

I love cooking with fresh herbs. As is typical with city living, we have no yard or even patio area for a garden. So I'm making an herb garden in my kitchen. It will be a wall piece. I've collected all of the elements for the garden, next will be to put them all together. My talented artist sister will be visiting soon and she has promised to help me finish the project. Stay tuned!
