Tuna Tartini

Today, my local grocer had fresh, sashimi grade tuna and ripe avocados. I took that as a sign to make this fresh and tasty appetizer. And I love these steel martini glasses. They're such a great little bowl for a tuna tartare.

Today, my local grocer had fresh, sashimi grade tuna and ripe avocados. I took that as a sign to make this fresh and tasty appetizer. And I love these steel martini glasses. They're such a great little bowl for a tuna tartare.

  1. Whisk together the first 7 ingredients: sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, miso paste, lemon juice, wasabi paste, roasted sesame seeds (reserving a pinch to sprinkle over the top) in a mixing bowl.
  2. Toss the diced tuna into the bowl with the miso dressing.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the diced avocado, minced onion and salt to taste.
  4. In a separate below, mix together ingredients 9 - 14: 1 ripe avocado, diced cucumber, diced shallot, cilantro, lime juice and salt.
  5. Layer the avocado mixture into your martini cups (or whatever serving cups you're using). Next spoon the tuna mixture over. Sprinkle a little cilantro and roasted sesame seeds over the top.
