Classic French Dip Sandwich
/I’ll take a French dip sandwich any day, but on a cold winter afternoon it just hits perfectly. That rich, steamy au jus is the real star of the show — one dunk and you’re basically wrapped in a cozy food hug.

Instructions
The Sandwich
- Slice open each bun, keeping it attached if you can. Lay it open on a baking sheet.
- Spread horseradish sauce on the bottom side of each bun.
- Sprinkle the shredded gruyere on the top side of each bun.
- Generously layer roast beef over the horseradish sauce.
- Broil 30 seconds to 1 minute, just until bread begins to lightly brown.
- Add half slices of the provolone cheese over the roast beef. Close the sandich a bit and broil another 30 seconds to a minute until the provolone cheese melts.
- Remove from the oven. Cut the sandwich in half and serve with the au jus while it's all still warm. Yum!
- Melt the butter in a sauce pan. Add the onion and saute for about 7 minutes.
- Meanwhile, put 2 beef boulion cubes in a small bowl with the water. Heat in the microwave on high and stir until the cubes desolve. Pour into the sauce pan.
- Add the garlic powder, salt and pepper, and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add the red wine and simmer another 2 minutes.
- Tast and add more salt if needed.
