Holiday Fudge that Melts in Your Mouth

Homemade fudge over the holidays takes me back to childhood. My Aunt Joan makes this homemade fudge of various flavors around Christmas time. The stuff just melts in your mouth! This year, I made a bunch of fudge to share with friends and family.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Line an 8 inch by 8 inch baking dish with aluminum foil or two pieces of parchment paper (overlapping vertically and horizontally).
  2. Combine the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a medium saucepan over medium low heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate begins melting and then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Continue stirring until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and starts to turn shiny.
  4. Here's where you would add your optional items (nuts, marshmallows, etc.) and quickly mix them in, then pour into the prepared pan. Gently shake the pan back and forth to help the fudge settle. Use a rubber spatula to spread it.
  5. Allow the fudge to completely set for four hours.
  6. Remove the fudge from the pan and take off the aluminum foil or parchment paper. Cut the fudge to desired sized pieces.
