The Americana Burger at Causwells is really something special. Local, fresh meat is ground daily and IT... IS... GOOD! Cooked to perfection, two patties are each topped with a slice of gooey American cheese. Top that with some of Causwell's own sauce, lettuce and pickle — all set within a soft but sturdy sesame seed bun and you've got burger greatness! And, by the way, all this is served next to a generous pile of scrumptious, perfectly fried onion rings. Oh yeah! If you at all like burgers, do yourself a favor and check this one out.
Serious Food Art Deliciousness at #LazyBearSF
Wow! If you have a chance to live the Lazy Bear SF dinner party experience — DO IT! They serve one menu each night, a tasting menu of twelve-ish courses plus some extras, in two seatings. You'll start upstairs with some light appetizers and cocktail pairings. You'll then be moved downstairs, seated communally at long tables for the remaining courses. The entire dining room is served each course at the same time, and chefs come out and describe the dishes as they are served. This photo is of the Sous Vides Potatoes and Morel Mushrooms with powdered herbs sprinkled atop. All of the dishes are equally beautiful and tasty. PS. This photo is not using a filter.
Alice's Homemade Tortillas
When Alice told me she makes homemade tortillas I could barely contain my delight. Anyone who has had a good homemade tortilla knows how much better they are than the store bought version. She promised to get a batch to me and am I glad she did! I made Brie & Caramelized Onion Quesadillas served with Stonewall's Maple Bacon Onion Jam (available at Sur la Table) and some fresh avocado for a small dinner party. We scarfed them down in literally minutes. These tortillas were truly deee-licious and a big hit at the party!! Thanks, Alice!
Low Carb Chicken Parm Over Faux Pasta
This chicken Parmesan dish is delicious, easy and low-carb, which Michael loves! Create the "breading": mix together 1 1/2 cups of finely grated Parmesan cheese, a dash of your favorite Italian seasonings (dried oregano and/or thyme), salt, fresh ground pepper. Clean and dry boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Pound to about 1/4 inch thick. Whisk 2 eggs with a tablespoon of whole milk. Dip chicken in the egg mixture and dredge in the "breading". Brown on one side in an oven-safe saute pan. Turn over. Add marinara sauce around (but not under) chicken. Add a slice of fresh mozzarella over each piece of chicken. Sprinkle a little more Parmesan over all. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes. Serve over spaghetti squash. Deliciousness without the carbs!
